They charged me for rejected tax and my taxes was wrong.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I did my taxes on tax tax I have been doing it for a few years yet. There was one year that they had done that to me before this they said that I owe $609 for federal and 190 or something like that in state so I filed for an extension because there is no way I can pay at $609 at one time and then I filed it .then I get it saying that it was rejected because the Social Security or something like that was wrong so I went through it.

Yes there was something wrong but I know my husbands phone or Social Security so there was something really weird about that and then I submitted it and that and then they said something that the EIN was not correct or was wrong so it rejected again and that so I went back in there and went through the whole thing again and I know I put the numbers in theres no way I couldve have done that many mistakes on three of my W-2s and then I found out that instead of me owing them $609 and did the extension I was going to get a refund back of $21 and the state was the same nothing has not changed.not only that you guys have a computer when you punch in a number you should make sure that ein matches the company you make sure you get your money and try to get more money from us. You should also honor your statement that if you get rejected you can go in and fix it at no cost

I am a long time user of TaxAct but . . . they have gone very impersonal and seem to be only interested in making money.

I am a long time user of TaxAct but . . . they have gone very impersonal and seem to be only...

I used TaxAct to do my federal return and they said I needed to pay for the deluxe package as my return, even though I only used the standard deduction, had to have an additional form as my interest income was more than $1500.00. When I started my return I was quoted (and I did a print screen to save it) a price of $39.99 for the additional state retrun.

However since they told me I had to pay $49.99 for the federal return due to the xtra page I was now required to file (the $1500 interest).

Then they told me that the state return would now cost me $59.99, a $20 increase even though it was the same state return as before. I am very unhappy with this years TaxAct company!!!Be cautiousLook

File complaint

Had to pay Tax Act $14.99 so my return would go through because of a glitch in my return that TaxAct had filled in. TaxAct put in an optional email that was not an email and was my user name. The block was not checked. I did not put anything in the optional email last year or this year. I do not think I should have had to pay for something that was not my fault. Called billing and lady was very rude to me and said she had the final say and there was no one over her, it appears that I could have been scammed.

Joke!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been on the phone for 4 hours straight. First time I held for 51 minutes which I don't mind holding, but as soon as a person comes on I talk for 20 seconds and then hear a dial tone.

So then I tried to go in and do it through chat. I was told she was very sorry but this wasn't her department and she would send me to someone that was. They couldn't help me so they gave me another number to call. You have the option to leave a call back number so that you don't have to stay on the phone.

I tried that this time. The lady that called me back said she couldn't help me because I did it on my phone and not on my desktop and that was not her department. So as I was trying to explain something to her, CLICK! I googled if there was a corporate number and I did get a number for customer relations I believe it was and guess what, Busy!!!

Last year my husband and I used them and everything went fine. But this year IRS sent us a letter that they needed information on something so that's the only reason I'm trying to contact a live person. So I have learned this year that if you do have an issue that comes up there is no chance that they're going to help you with it, even though you pay for that privilege. To anybody that is listening, pay the extra money and just go with h&r block or whoever you choose.

Yes it cost a little more money but you're working with a live person at all times. Everybody I spoke to today just seems so overwhelmed and I do believe that's why I got hung up on twice. The funny part is this is the small question that I wanted to ask them. How do I get into my taxes that I filed with them to make sure that I put the right numbers in from my 1095-a.

Should be simple right, right! If just one person reads this, run from tax act!!!

Disappointed: Estate & Trusts

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I am disappointed that for an Estate/Trust that only had $7,869 in income for 2022 and yet the charge to file was $124.95. Seems excessively high compared to filing as an individual with that income which would have been free. Plus they never even responded to my email. Very disappointed. --Walt

Skyrocketing prices and eliminated customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review Mar 16, 2023

I have complained to TaxAct for several years regarding the exorbitant price that they have been charging. My price went up from like $10 for the premium edition in 2015 and bounced around and in 2022 it was $150 for the self-employed addition, in 7 years.

When I complained about the pricing during this past two years, they refunded me $20 some odd dollars each year. But when I tried to contact them for technical support today, it was an absolute joke and impossible to get to speak to anybody.

My evaluation of TaxAct has plummeted like a rock. They obviously aren't customer service oriented at all and neither are they customer oriented with their crazy swings in pricing.

Preferred solution: We desperately need improve service! In addition to that, I need to reevaluate their pricing structure.

User's recommendation: find another company and just check off TaxAct house it’s not even worth doing business with them.
