I am looking at the ad for Taxaxt Premium 2016 on their web site that gives absolutely no exclusions (such as for filing a simple return like the 1040EZ) and that the cost would be free e-filing for federal and $10 for state (see attached pic). However, after creating my entire return that took several hours, it then told me it would cost $25.
There were no options, no opportunity to contact someone, and it was tax day evening so email was out of the question (although I tried contacting support and got nothing). This was textbook bait-n-switch, and I had no choice but to file or fail.
Review about: Taxact Tax Software.
Reason of review: Pricing issue.
Monetary Loss: $20.
Preferred solution: Price reduction.
I liked: Fact that you could do the taxes online.
I didn't like: How much re-entering of info it required, Bait-n-switch on the pricing 30usd vs 10usd.
