I downloaded and and reinstalled TaxAct 2016 after a computer repair, and it was not working properly--error code and running script problem. I had uninstalled Windows Explorer 11 after the computer repair as well because I use Chrome.

I gratefully came across this webpage and after reading comments reinstalled WE 11.

TaxAct is working as well as ever now. I don't get it, but it worked.

Had to upgrade to ie11 then did this to make sure. Worked fine after that.

If you have Internet Explorer 10 or later, complete the following:

Open Internet Explorer and click Tools on the menu bar (press Alt on the keyboard to enable the toolbar if needed).

On the dropdown menu, click "Compatibility View settings."

If it's there, uncheck the box next to "Display all websites in Compatibility View."

Uncheck the box next to "Display intranet sites in Compatibility View."

Same problem on Microsoft Windows XP / Mozilla Firefox browser. Used the same computer for past 6 years, with no problems.

This year the software cost $70.

Can't use it. What do I do now?

Found a fix for the problem. IE9 does not support console output. If you update to Internet Explorer 11 (do a Windows Update should do it) then the problem goes away.

Anyway, it feels like TaxAct should not put console writes in their production release software - in my opinion

I guess for Windows XP users this would not help since no IE 11 for XP available?

Thanks,

Same problem here on Windows XP fully updated. Using Taxact 2016 Free Federal version 1.05. Last year's TaxAct software worked fine on same PC.

Any updates to this from the vendor?
